Stay at Marangu Hotel

Helping adventurers find their path since 1932

Marangu Hotel began its history as a farmhouse built in the early 1900s. We opened our doors to guests in the early 1920s and started organizing mountain climbs in the 1930s. We are a family-owned business, with a long history and deep connection to Kilimanjaro and Tanzania.

Marangu Hotel is nestled amongst 12 lush acres, with a variety of exotic trees and flowering shrubs. There are magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro from Marangu Hotel’s gardens. Guests can enjoy a clear view of Kili’s peaks – the iconic, ice-capped Kibo and the rocky Mawenzi – while enjoying a cool drink!

Activities

Rooms

Located within the beautiful grounds and gardens of Marangu Hotel, we have 26 farmhouse-style cottages, purposely kept in the same style as the original farm house from the 1920s. We offer single, double, twin and triple accommodation.

Walks

From banana and coffee farms to rivers, waterfalls, caves and local markets, you’re sure to take in every aspect of why we choose to call this home. We can organize walking tours with local guides for you.

Swimming

We have a beautiful swimming pool on the hotel grounds. Guests can enjoy lunch and tea by the pool while spending the afternoon swimming.

Camping

We also have a beautiful campsite where we can accommodate large groups. We have heated showers and bathrooms available. Camping upgrades are also available upon request.

Bird Watching

A wide variety of birds can be seen from the hotel’s gardens and trained bird guides can be arranged by the hotel for guests interested in a richer bird watching experience.

Bar & Food

The hotel is known for its renowned dishes and carefully curated menu, using produce from our own garden and surrounding villages.
